5 potential offensive coordinators for the Vikings in 2019
By Adam Patrick
Hue Jackson
This is the candidate that may freak some Vikings fans out a bit. But don’t be frightened by Jackson’s abysmal record as the Cleveland Browns’ head coach (3-36-1), because his duties would only be to run the offense in Minnesota.
Running an offense is something that Jackson has found success in during the past. Since entering the NFL as an assistant in 2001, he has served as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, and Cincinnati Bengals.
Jackson’s time with the Falcons was nothing to rave about, but with the Raiders and Bengals, his offenses were among the best at running the football in the entire NFL. Something Minnesota struggled with mightily last season.
Helping Jackson’s case to be the Vikings’ new offensive coordinator in 2019 is his relationship with Mike Zimmer. Both have worked together in the past with Atlanta and Cincinnati and they have been able to maintain their friendship despite not being co-workers for the past five years.
Some may not want to hear it, but Jackson seems like a very strong possibility to become Minnesota’s new offensive coordinator.
