Ken Zampese

Another one of Mike Zimmer’s old acquaintances from his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Zampese seems like a bit of long shot to become the Vikings new offensive coordinator. But anything is possible when Zimmer is making the decisions, right?

Zampese has been an assistant in the NFL since 1998 and his area of expertise is the quarterback position. When Zimmer was the defensive coordinator for the Bengals from 2008 to 2013, Zampese was the team’s quarterbacks coach.

He did get an opportuntiy to be an offensive coordinator during his time in Cincinnati. Under Zampese in 2016, the Bengals ranked 13th in rushing yards per game and 15th in passing yards per game.

However, Cincinnati ended up firing their longtime assistant just two weeks into the 2017 season after they weren’t happy with how the offense was performing under his guidance.

Currently, he is still the quarterbacks coach for the Cleveland Browns. But with the Browns looking to add a new head coach this offseason, Zampese could become available and Zimmer might want to make him Minnesota’s new offensive coordinator.
