5 players who should be on the Vikings’ free agency wish list for 2019

LeGarrette Blount – RB
With Latavius Murray’s contract being up this year, the Vikings will likely have to find a new running back to tag along with Dalvin Cook in their offensive backfield for 2019. Given his history of being a bruiser in between the tackles, Blount could be that guy Minnesota brings in to team up with Cook.
Last season, Blount spent his time in the NFC North with the Detroit Lions. He wasn’t really a fit for the Lions and what they were trying to do on offense as he rushed for just 418 yards and five touchdowns on 154 carries in 2018.
But prior to last season, Blount was a part of each of the last two Super Bowl champions in the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots.
With the Patriots in 2016, he scored 18 touchdowns and rushed for 1,161 yards. Last season with the Eagles, Blount finished with 766 rushing yards and a total of three scores.
He would actually be an upgrade over Murray for the Vikings when it comes to short-yardage situations. During his career, Blount has scored 42 touchdowns when his team was within 10 yards of their opponent’s goal line.
If they do end up needing to find a good No. 2 option in their backfield for 2019, giving Blount a shot seems like something that could work for Minnesota.
