REPORT: Hue Jackson not expected to be hired by the Vikings
By Adam Patrick
Minnesota Vikings play-by-play announcer Paul Allen stated on Friday that the team will not be hiring Hue Jackson to be their offensive coordinator for 2019.
Figuring out who their offensive coordinator will be for 2019 is obviously one of the top priorities for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. Who exactly the Vikings end up choosing for the position is something that is still unknown.
One name that has continued to pop up in rumors related to possible candidates for Minnesota’s vacant offensive coordinator position has been former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson.
Recently, we reported that Jackson is among those being considered to lead the Vikings’ offense in 2019 and on Thursday, the chance of it actually happening was reported as being, “a real possibility,” by the Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling.
However, someone else has come out on Friday with info that disputes the claims that Jackson could end up on Minnesota’s sideline next season.
According to Vikings play-by-play announcer Paul Allen, the former Cleveland Browns head coach is not going to be hired as the team’s next offensive coordinator. Allen made the claim during his radio show on Friday, stating that he, “has it on good authority,” that Jackson will not be joining the Vikings’ coaching staff this offseason.
The disputing reports is a normal occurrence during each NFL offseason. But this one in particular should provide some relief for the Minnesota fans who wanted no part of Jackson joining their favorite team.
On Thursday, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said that a decision should be made by next Tuesday on whether or not interim offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski will be selected for the full-time role in 2019.
Once Minnesota figures out if they want to keep Stefanski or not, then more should clear up regarding who will be running the team’s offense next season.
