5 underrated free agents the Minnesota Vikings should sign

L.J. Fort, linebacker

Minnesota will need to add more linebacker depth this year and they may not need to look much farther than L.J. Fort. While Eric Wilson has impressed and the team has locked down Eric Kendricks on a long-term deal, there isn’t much behind Ben Gedeon ensured to be on the roster.

Fort has bounced around the NFL, playing for six teams since he was an undrafted free agent in 2012. He is entering his 30-year-old season but is coming off one of his best years as a pro. In fact, he graded out as the 18th best linebacker in the league last year by Pro Football Focus.

He is exceptionally good in run coverage, meaning he could become a quality backup if Wilson takes on the job that Anthony Barr was doing for the Vikings. His run support grade of 81.1 was the tenth best of all linebackers

He has bounced around the league, but he will be a valuable asset on special teams and for linebacker depth for any team that can acquire his rights. And that team should be the Minnesota Vikings,
