Danielle Hunter and Harrison Smith were impressive during the 2018 NFL season and the two Vikings were recognized by the Pro Football Writers of America.

While it was disappointing for the Minnesota Vikings not to reach the postseason, there were still some great performances by individual players who deserve recognition for their play during the 2018 NFL season.

The Pro Football Writers of America released their All-NFL, All-AFC, and All-NFC teams on Tuesday and two defenders from the purple and gold were included on the teams according to the official website of the Vikings.

Harrison Smith was named to the All-NFC team where he was paired the Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson. Smith is no stranger to the PFWA awards and was part of the NFC squad last year.

Meanwhile, Danielle Hunter also landed on the All-NFC team as a defensive end where he, Cameron Jordan of the New Orleans Saints, and DeMarcus Lawrence of the Dallas Cowboys represent the conference.

In addition, Hunter was named to the All-NFL team with Houston Texans star J.J. Watt to round out the defensive ends. He wasn’t done there though, as Hunter also earned a spot on the Sporting News’ NFL All-Pro team, which is voted on by NFL coaches.

It was a little disappointing not to see Minnesota wide receiver Adam Thielen included on the All-NFC team considering how hot he was at the beginning of the season. Still, it’s hard to argue Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons and Michael Thomas of the New Orleans Saints to represent the conference.

Congratulations to Harrison Smith and Danielle Hunter on these honors as well the Minnesota Vikings for bringing out the best in them during the 2018 NFL season. Hopefully, many more members from the team will be receiving many honors for the 2019 campaign.
