If fans thought the schedule for the Minnesota Vikings was tough in 2018, they should prepare for even tougher opponents during the 2019 NFL season.

On paper, it can be hard to tell how tough the schedule is going to be for the Minnesota Vikings just by looking at the opponents. Key things such as trades, injuries, free agents, and more can change the scope of teams in a major way.

Still, it can be interesting to see who will be facing off against the Vikings in 2019 and get a feel for how the team matches up with some of the squads and just how successful their opponents were during the 2018 NFL season.

According to the official website of the Minnesota Vikings, the team holds the ninth-hardest schedule for the upcoming season when taking into account the regular season records of their opposition.

Of course, the Vikings will still face off against their NFC North rivals twice (once at home and once on the road) as usual. Here are their records this season:

  • Chicago Bears (12-4)*
  • Detroit Lions (6-10)
  • Green Bay Packers (6-9-1)

In addition to those six games, their remaining ten opponents should bring some big challenges to the Vikings in 2019. Here are their non-divisional opponents they will face in Minnesota:

  • Atlanta Falcons (7-9)
  • Denver Broncos (6-10)
  • Oakland Raiders (4-12)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (9-7)*
  • Washington Redskins (7-9)

And here is who the Vikings will be hitting the road to play against:

  • Dallas Cowboys (10-6)*
  • Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)*
  • Los Angles Chargers (12-4)*
  • New York Giants (5-11)
  • Seattle Seahawks (10-6)*

Seven of the ten games will be against playoff teams from 2018. In addition, teams such as the Falcons, Broncos, and Packers all underperformed last season and could be much more intimidating this year and could be contenders for the postseason once again.

The site says “Minnesota’s 2019 opponents went 130-124-2 for a win percentage of .512.” But looking over the opponents doesn’t show a lot of games that would have the Vikings as heavy favorites (except Oakland).
