Redrafting the Minnesota Vikings’ 2018 NFL Draft class
By Matt Falk
Round 2
Brian O’Neill – OT (Pittsburgh)
Original Pick: O’Neill
You didn’t really think I could pass on Brian O’Neill in round two did you?
O’Neill was one of the best rookie offensive tackles in the entire 2018 NFL Draft class. The Pittsburgh product was originally viewed as more of a project for the Vikings in his rookie season. But he surprised many with his play in 2018 and I think I speak for Minnesota fans across the country in saying that O’Neill was the best lineman that took the field for the Vikings this year.
He appears to be the real deal and he will be a big part of the offensive line’s success in the coming years. The only question left for O’Neill is if Minnesota will try to toss him on the left side of the line or not. Time will tell, but one thing is clear, the Vikings got a steal with O’Neill in the second round.
Thoughts on original pick:
Bingo, that about sums it up. It was a great pick and there really isn’t a ton more to say about it. If O’Neill already exceeded his expectations in year one, Minnesota fans have a legit reason to be very excited for him moving forward with their favorite team.
