First Round

Christian Wilkins – DT (Clemson)

Wilkins is the type of player that has no business being on the board at pick No. 18. So if the former Clemson big-man does happen to fall, even with the offensive line needs, he might be too good for the Vikings to pass on.

Wilkins is the type of player that can change an entire defense. He has not only been one of the best defensive lineman in college football for the past few years, but he has been one of the best defenders period.

The former Clemson big-man has a rare combo of size and athleticism that you love to see in a defensive tackle. Wilkins has proven to be excellent at not only getting to the quarterback, but also at stopping the run.

He has the versatility to play multiple spots along the defensive line, but he would most likely find his home with Minnesota as a defensive tackle next to Linval Joseph.

With Sheldon Richardson and Tom Johnson both headed to free agency this year, the Vikings could have a serious need that could be squashed instantly with Wilkins. Not only would he be ready to contribute on day one, but he has the experience and talent to start as well.

So while passing up on an offensive lineman in the first round might give Minnesota fans heartburn, once they see Wilkins in action, it will be clear that it was the right choice.
