Tight End

It is becoming more and more common these days for an NFL team to be running with two dynamic options at the tight end position.

With weapons like Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen on the outside, Dalvin Cook in the backfield, and Kyle Rudolph at tight end, the Vikings adding yet another weapon in this year’s draft could help take this offense to a whole new level.

We all watched as the NFL exploded on offense this past season and we all know this is a copycat league. So while Minnesota has a great tight end in Rudolph, the cupboard is pretty bare behind him.

Yes the Vikings have David Morgan as well, but he is seen as more of a blocking tight end and he rarely sees a ball thrown his way. Minnesota also invested a fifth-round pick on Tyler Conklin in last year’s draft. But after one year, Conklin left us with more questions than answers.

We also need to remember that Rudolph is no spring chicken and he will be 30-years-old next season. At some point the Vikings are going to need start grooming his replacement and the 2019 tight end class is pretty stacked.

Realistically, the only scenario I could see Minnesota actually selecting a tight end in the first round is if they trade back or if they are absolutely in love with a guy and find the value too tough to pass on.

Potential First-Round TE Targets:
