Keep fighting

During each of Mike Zimmer’s five seasons as the Vikings’ head coach, it seems like the team has been faced with a giant obstacle to overcome.

Whether it was Adrian Peterson’s suspension in 2014, Teddy Birdgewater’s catastrophic knee injury and Norv Turner quitting in 2016, Sam Bradford going down after one game in 2017, or Tony Sparano’s sudden passing in 2018, Minnesota has dealt with their share of unfortunate circumstances in the recent past.

However, a number of NFL teams have dealt with similar obstacles during the same season that saw them end up winning the Super Bowl.

As recent as 2017, the Philadelphia Eagles still ended up as champions even after they lost their starting quarterback to a season-ending injury in Week 14. The Baltimore Ravens also won the Super Bowl in 2012 despite firing their offensive coordinator with only three games left in the regular season.

For 2019, the Vikings just have to maintain their focus on their ultimate goal of winning a championship. It’s pretty much inevitable that Minnesota is going to be faced with a bunch of hurdles next season, but they shouldn’t let any of them be an excuse for not getting to the Super Bowl.
