Stephen Gostkowski

2018 Stats:

  • 27/32 FGs (84.4 percent)
  • 49/50 XPs (98 percent)

Convincing Gostkowski to leave the New England Patriots is probably going to be extremely difficult for the Vikings to do. But if Minnesota can somehow accomplish this, the veteran would provide an immediate improvement for the team’s kicking game.

Gostkowski has been a part of three Super Bowl-winning rosters since 2014. During that time he failed to convert on only three of his 23 field goal tries in 14 playoff games.

2018 was a bit of a down year for Gostkowski, especially considering how he has performed as of late. From 2014 to 2017, he made 91 percent of his field goal attempts, but last season saw him finish with a percentage below 85.

Is this a sign of things heading in the wrong direction for Gostkowski? Or was it just a season where a few more balls got away from him than normal?

Gostkowski’s past shows that he is capable of getting back on track in 2019, so his performance last season should not deter the Vikings from attempting to sign him this year.
