5. Ryan Allen

New England Patriots punter Ryan Allen will likely be the most expensive punter on this list, especially after his excellent performance during the Super Bowl. Having spent six seasons with New England, his experience and exposure in big games will earn him a nice payday.

In 2018, Allen was 16th in average yards per punt with 45.1 and 19th in average net yards per punt at 39.5. He hasn’t missed a single regular season contest in his NFL career and proved to be a solid weapon in the field position battle for New England.

Minnesota could really use an experienced punter with a track record of success who is consistent. With the seemingly revolving door the Vikings have seen lately of punters, having someone to rely on as a punter and holder with experience who is also going to be only 29 at the start of the 2019 NFL season.

While there are punters with bigger legs out there which the Vikings could pursue if they can’t bring back Matt Wile, but Allen wouldn’t be a bad signing as a fallback option.

With so many problems facing the Minnesota Vikings entering the 2019 NFL season, choosing a punter and holder for the upcoming season might seem like a minor detail. But games can be won or lost on special teams and hopefully, the franchise can make the right decision this offseason.
