Mychal Kendricks – LB

With Anthony Barr likely heading elsewhere, the Vikings will have a need at linebacker this offseason. If Minnesota looks to fill this need through free agency this year, they should stay far, far away from Kendricks.

The Vikings showed interest in the veteran linebacker last offseason, but he passed up the opportunity to play with his brother Eric in Minnesota and opted to sign with the Cleveland Browns instead.

Then came the fun news last August that saw Kendricks get charged with insider trading. He ended up getting released by the Browns and suspended by the NFL following his charges.

Kendricks decided to plead guilty to his charges and he is scheduled to be sentenced on April 4. The 28-year-old linebacker is looking at a possible sentence of 30 to 37 months in prison.

This isn’t something the Vikings need to really involve themselves in, even if Kendricks may be an affordable addition. There are plenty of other free-agent linebackers for Minnesota to choose from this year that don’t have a pending prison sentence.
