Vikings seven round 2019 NFL mock draft: Mid-February edition
By Adam Carlson
Round 2: Oshane Ximines, OLB/DE – Old Dominion
There is a chance that Ximines could shine at the NFL Combine and raise his stock to be a first-round selection, but there should still be plenty of hype surrounding an individual who has the potential to be an elite NFL pass rusher.
Each year, Ximines has improved upon his sack numbers, reaching 18 during the 2018 campaign and 32.5 in 50 games played with Old Dominion. Those numbers are included in his 51 tackles for a loss and 176 combined tackles.
When factoring in his 12 passes defended, 11 forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception, he looks like a complete defender with great athleticism and hands who could possibly fill the hole left if the team was unable to re-sign Anthony Barr.
There is some question as to his level of competition while at Old Dominion, but a solid Combine and some good interviews should keep him in the second round of the NFL Draft at the very least. However, with a premium on pass rushers in the league, someone will take a chance on Ximines.
