Round 6 Pick 1: LJ Scott, RB – Michigan State

Dalvin Cook is set to return as the Vikings primary running back, but with Latavius Murray becoming a free agent and a question in whether or not the team can trust the youthful combination of Mike Boone and Roc Thomas to fill in.

What Minnesota really needs is a bulldozing short yardage running back with bulk and power. Those words fit the bill when it comes to six-foot-one and 225-pound LJ Scott out of Michigan State University.

Scott is not only a good runner who averaged 4.7 yards per carry over his collegiate career but rushed for 25 touchdowns and added to receiving scores in 43 games played. In addition, he is a decent enough blocker and could contribute on special teams.

He will likely fall to the later rounds due to his legal issues. Scott can’t seem to get things together when it comes to driving, getting cited for improper turn, operating a vehicle without a valid plate, driving without proof of insurance, parking on a sidewalk, disobeying a sign controlling parking, and more. He will need to prove himself in team interviews at the Combine if he wants to be selected at all during the 2019 NFL Draft.
