D.J. Fluker

2018 Stats:

  • 49.2 overall grade from Pro Football Focus
  • 74.0 pass blocking grade
  • 49.8 run blocking grade
  • 11 QB pressures allowed

It’s kind of hard to figure out what to make of D.J. Fluker’s 2018 season. While his overall grade was low, his pass blocking grade ranked 36th among Pro Football Focus qualifiers.

Why did this happen? It could be because the Seattle Seahawks practically abandoned the passing game in the latter half of the season as Fluker reached over 30 pass blocking snaps just twice in his final six games.

Still, Fluker can bring something to the table. After many armchair general managers wanted the Vikings to take guard Will Hernandez in the first round of last April’s draft, Fluker could be a short-term solution as a 6-foot-5, 339 pound mauler designed to create space.

The problem is, Fluker isn’t that athletic outside of a speed score that ranked in the 59th percentile among offensive linemen over at Player Profiler. It may not take much to get him in the fold for Minnesota, but he may also end up not being the guy that the Vikings are hoping for either.
