2018 Stats:

  • 60.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus
  • 60.3 pass blocking grade
  • 57.7 run blocking grade
  • 42 QB pressures allowed

It was not a good season for A.J. Cann with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018 as he never seemed to get his footing at right guard. As with most of the Jaguars’ roster, Cann regressed to the point where head coach Doug Marrone thought about moving the South Carolina product to left guard.

That move never materialized for the 27-year-old, but it may make more sense if he lands with the Vikings. Nobody on Minnesota’s line is really locked into their current position and adding a body such as Cann could at least give the team depth it didn’t have a year ago.

As an added bonus, Cann’s strength prior to last season was his pass-blocking ability, which could help Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins find more time in the pocket in 2019.

With a previous track record of success and the potential of him returning to his natural position, Cann could be a sneaky target for Minnesota to plug in (or at least compete) at guard and see what happens.
