There are some great defensive tackles available in free agency who might fit what the Minnesota Vikings are looking for heading into the 2019 NFL season.

The Minnesota Vikings take great pride in their defense. Their bend, but don’t break style of defending has made them one of the most fearsome units in the league based on their combination of a strong pass rush, sure tackling, and pass coverage.

Sadly, their two big free agent acquisitions at defensive tackle during the last offseason are set to walk away and bringing back Sheldon Richardson or Tom Johnson might be a bit of a struggle depending on the market for each of these players.

For that reason, the Vikings may have to look to the 2019 NFL Draft or free agency to fill the massive hole next to Linval Joseph and Minnesota will need to evaluate their options for a starter as well as depth at that spot.

Let’s take a look at five defensive tackles who the team might be able to afford who could step in and help the Minnesota Vikings during the 2019 NFL season.
