3. Christian Covington

If the Vikings are looking for someone to stop the run up the gut, Christian Covington should be near the top of their wish list. Walter Football has him as their 6th best available defensive tackle in free agency and praised his run-stuffing ability.

Covington is finishing his rookie deal with the Houston Texans after being a sixth-round draft pick in 2015. He only started nine games in that time but played in 50 contests. Because of his limited time sitting behind J.J. Watt, a featured role might be just what he needs to truly flourish.

The stats he accumulated when on the field won’t pop out at fans, but when considering his limited action, it is respectable. He accumulated 65 combined tackles with 39 of those being solo and 11 for a loss. He also added 16 quarterback hits, 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass defense.

While not a proven commodity in a starting role, Covington could thrive in a situation next to three Pro Bowl players in Danielle Hunter, Linval Joseph, and Everson Griffen on the defensive line if given an opportunity to prove himself.
