Anthony Barr predicted to sign with the Rams this offseason

The Minnesota Vikings linebacker is scheduled to be a free-agent this offseason and there’s a good chance that he will choose to sign with a new team.
Deciding whether or not to re-sign linebacker Anthony Barr is certainly one of the top priorities for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. Barr has been solid for the Vikings since he was drafted in 2014, but his price tag may be too high for the team to bring him back this year.
The linebacker made around $12 million last season with Minnesota and he’s likely not going to sign a new deal that pays him less than that. Barr will probably be looking for a contract this offseason that gives him an average salary closer to $16 million per year.
If the Vikings feel he’s not worth that kind of money, then the linebacker will be playing for a new team in 2019. Where that might be is still currently unknown, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from making a prediction.
NFL Media’s Gil Brandt recently projected where he believes some of this year’s top free-agents will land and Barr was among the players he included.
For the 26-year-old linebacker, Brandt sees him heading closer to home and signing with the Los Angeles Rams. Barr grew up in California and he went to college at UCLA, so playing with the Rams next season seems like it could be pretty enticing for him.
In addition to the linebacker having the opportunity to play in Los Angeles, Brandt also believes the Rams would be interested in his services to help improve their run defense. In 2018, Los Angeles ranked last in the NFL in yards allowed per carry.
With around $24 million in cap space currently, the Rams have the money to give Barr a nice offer this year. If the linebacker does end up signing with Los Angeles, he won’t get the opportunity to play against his old team in 2019 unless it happens in the playoffs as the Rams are not among the Vikings’ opponents for next season.
