Mackensie Alexander stepped up in a big way for the Minnesota Vikings last season but what he did for his parents on Valentine’s Day was also huge.

The 2018 NFL season was a good one for Mackensie Alexander, as the cornerback and Naples, Florida native saw increases in nearly every statistical category and starting the first six games of his career with the Minnesota Vikings.

With an extremely bright future ahead of him, Alexander appears to be earning his role with the team but it is also great to see when a player is not only good on the football field but good when off the field as well.

According to the Naples Daily News, Alexander surprised his parents on Feb. 15 with a Valentine’s Day gift that caught them off-guard.

When Alexander returned home to Naples, Florida to visit his parents on Friday, he went to their home. The home was built by Habitat For Humanity of Collier County 17 years ago and he wanted to do something special for Jean and Marie Alexander, who were field workers when getting their new home.

Alexander and his parents made a short trip to the Habitat for Humanity office in Naples for a small ceremony where the Vikings cornerback paid off the home of his parents in full as a gift for Valentine’s Day.

Mackensie has given back to his family on many occasions, sending his parents on trips and the thoughtful gesture of paying off the home he grew up in as a way to thank his parents is something that someone with a good heart does.

"“I think every day is Valentine’s Day for my mom and dad,” Alexander said in a video from Habitat for Humanity. “I picked this day to get it all done, pay the house off. I just want to see my parents happy.”"

As Alexander continues to give back to his family and his community, his gesture not only is a thank you to his parents but an example of what a person can do when successful to use good fortune to help others.

"“They’ve already been traveling,” Alexander said of his parents. “Now they get to travel a whole lot more. It’s about time they get to move and do what they want to do. I get to sit back and watch them have fun. That’s a beautiful thing to me.”"
