It’s been said many times by NFL Draft experts that one can’t properly evaluate a team’s rookie class until after three years. That time has come for the Minnesota Vikings and their 2016 class.

It has been three years since the Minnesota Vikings put together their 2016 draft class. Enough time has passed to give this group a proper evaluation.

We will use the tried and tested Draft Grade A Day grading system and evaluate these players on their overall production since they entered the NFL in 2016.

When this class was initially reviewed after the first year with Minnesota, the overall performance by the group was very unimpressive. The most productive player from this class of Vikings rookies in 2016 was linebacker Kentrell Brothers, who racked up a grand total of nine tackles in 10 games.

Minnesota got next to nothing from this specific group of players out of the gate and it looked to be on par with their terrible rookie class from 2005. However, things have gotten better since then and the light came on for a few of these players in 2018.

So let’s grade each draft pick that the Vikings made in 2016 and then we will calculate the overall class grade at the end.

Grading Scale:

  • Round 1 = 0-5 points
  • Round 2 = 0-4 points
  • Round 3 = 0-3 points
  • Round 2 = 0-2 points
  • Round 5 = 0-1 point
  • Round 6 or 7 = 0 points

(*Bonus points are awarded to players who outperformed their draft slot. Fractional points are also awarded.)
