Hjalte Froholdt – G/C (Arkansas)

There is no doubt the Vikings will be using multiple picks to upgrade their offensive line this year. While early picks will be used looking for new starters, they’ll also invest at least one late-round choice to look for a depth guy who provides upside.

They can find that with Hjalte Froholdt.

This guy is much more than just a name that sounds like it came out of the Shire. Froholdt has great size standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 311 pounds. He moves very well for a man that big and he has no problem pulling and leading a play on the outside.

Froholdt is also very versatile. He started out at guard for the Razorbacks, but he was moved to center in 2018. He didn’t miss a beat and he held up well against some big nasty nose tackles.

The major knock on Froholdt is that he just isn’t physical enough. Watching him on tape, he engages his blocker just fine, but it’s not often that he puts his defender on his back or even overpowers him.

Froholdt needs to learn to play with more nastiness and physicality, otherwise, the concerns about him not being able to stop NFL caliber defensive lineman are completely legit. That being said, there is a ton to like about this Razorback and Minnesota would be wise to use one of their late round picks on him.
