Wide Receiver

Obviously, with Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen on the roster, the Vikings don’t have a pressing need at wide receiver. What they do need is a reliable third option. Laquon Treadwell was supposed to be that a season ago but proved to have unreliable hands, and found his way into Mike Zimmer’s dog house. There have been plenty of rumors that he could be traded in the offseason but it’s hard to imagine the team getting more than a very late round pick for him.

Aldrick Robinson was signed during the season last year, and he proved to be an adequate deep threat and had a nose for the end zone scoring five times. He is a free-agent, and it’s unclear if he’ll be back with the team in 2019.

There are some young guys on the roster who could become the No. 3 option. Chad Beebe ran very crisp routes and has glue-like hands. Then there is Brandon Zylstra who has a nice combination of size and speed. These guys will be in the mix but the team will bring in competition through the draft.

The Vikings likely will address bigger needs with their first choices, so it’s likely the earliest the team would take a wide receiver would be in round four. Obviously, if a guy falls who they feel is too good a value to pass up before that, they’d pounce. All the Vikings really need is competition for that third job and maybe a bigger sized receiver to go up and snatch jump balls in the red zone.
