Offensive Line

This should come as no shock and is clearly the Vikings number one need and priority heading into the draft. The team used all that money to bring in Kirk Cousins and then gave him very suspect protection a season ago. They can’t let that happen again. The Vikings will be using multiple picks as well as bringing in free-agents to try to fix this thing.

The Vikings will likely start by looking at the interior of their offensive line. They are better off at tackle with Rieff and O’Neil but the current guards on their roster wouldn’t even be starters in the AAF. The current depth chart consists of Mike Remmers, Danny Isidora, and Cedrick Lang. That is nowhere near good enough. Center is also a question mark. Pat Elflein struggled a season ago and he could be moved to guard.

Guard could be addressed at pick No. 18 and is likely the favorite for that spot. Names to keep in mind would be Jonah Williams, Cody Ford, and Dalton Risner. Any of those three would be plugged in on day one as starters.

The Vikings could also opt to take an offensive tackle early. There have been rumblings that they could move Riley Reiff inside to guard. That would open the door for the team to look at an offensive tackle like Jawaan Taylor or Andre Dillard with their first-round pick.

The chances are very high that the Vikings use two of their first three selections to address the offensive line. They need to protect Kirk Cousins better and they also need to improve the running game. If the team did do that, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them bring in more big bodies later in the draft too. Viking fans should get used to the team picking offensive lineman this April because there is a chance up to half of their picks could be used to do just that.
