No. 3: Cris Carter and Jake Reed – 133 receptions, 1,772 yards, 13.8 touchdowns. (1991 – 1999)

This is Cris Carter’s second appearance in the list, and not his last (no surprise there). In 1994 Carter set an NFL record leading the Vikings with 122 receptions. Duplicating that mark in 1995, it now stands as the eighth most in a single season in NFL history.

Jake Reed was a 3rd-round pick in 1991 from Grambling State. It took three seasons and the departure of Anthony Carter before he broke into the starting lineup. Reed played 10 seasons with the Vikings, winding up fourth in franchise history in receiving yards. The understudy to Cris Carter, Reed led the Vikings in receiving yards in 1996 and 1997. He had four consecutive 1000-yard seasons from 1994 to 1997.

The emergence of Randy Moss in 1998 made undoubtedly the best wide receiver trio in franchise history. This duo led the Vikings to the postseason seven of nine seasons they played together.
