No. 2: Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs – 147 receptions, 1,813 yards, 10.5 touchdowns (2015 – 2018)

In putting together this ranking it was surprising to find that Thielen and Diggs, in only four seasons together, are sitting eighth and 11th respectively among the Vikings’ all-time leaders in receiving yards.

Based on where these two came from, their appearance as the second –best wide receiver duo is extremely unlikely. By now everyone on the planet knows Thielen’s story going from uninvited and undrafted rookie free agent to one of the best receivers in the NFL. Add to the mix the rise of Diggs from a 5th-round draft pick in 2015. Diggs was the 19th receiver taken in the draft, and arguably the best among the bunch leading with 302 receptions. One knock on Diggs has been his inability to play an entire 16-game season, missing nine games in his four seasons.

At 29 years old, Thielen is four years older than Diggs. It’s unfortunate that it took the Vikings three years to figure out how good of an offensive weapon Thielen is. An outstanding special teams player, Thielen’s first touchdown came in 2014 when he blocked a punt against the Carolina Panthers and returned it for a score.

What really sets this duo apart is their ability to catch the ball. Since 2015 they have caught 69.5 percent of the balls targeted to them. According to The Football Database, Thielen (73.8 percent) finished fifth and Diggs (68.4 percent) 10th in catch percent among the top-targeted receivers in 2018.

With Kirk Cousins only getting more comfortable with the offense, look for this duo to continue to get better, but it will still take a step-change improvement to overcome the Vikings greatest wide receiver duo, especially when it comes to scoring touchdowns.
