Greedy Williams – CB (LSU)

With Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander, Mike Hughes, and Holton Hill currently on the Vikings’ roster, it may seem crazy to have a corner on this list.

While it’s highly unlikely that Minnesota would draft another first-round cornerback in 2019, there are some things to take into account.

Both Waynes and Alexander will likely be free-agents after the next season. The Vikings do have guys like Hughes and Hill in line to replace them, but they could use one more cover man, especially in today’s NFL and it’s high flying offenses.

The second thing to keep in mind is that Mike Zimmer loves his cornerbacks and he won’t shy away from using a high pick on one in the draft, regardless of the need.

If general manager Rick Spielman and Minnesota are truly going for the best player available at pick No. 18 this year, Greedy Williams could be just that.

Williams is a long, lanky defender stands 6-foot-1 and is 182 pounds. He sticks to his man like glue and he knows just when to break on the football when it’s in the air.

Williams had eight career interceptions in two years at LSU and he is a bit of a ballhawk. He is an exceptional overall athlete and should do very well at the Scouting Combine this year.

Williams could fall down the draft board in 2019 just because of team needs. There aren’t a ton of teams picking in the top half of the draft this year that have a corner as their top need.

That being said, it would be shocking to see Greedy get all the way to pick No. 18. And it would be even more shocking if the Vikings truly went best player available and took him.
