5 free-agent cornerbacks the Vikings could sign in 2019
By Matt Falk
Justin Coleman
2018 Stats:
- 55 tackles
- 10 pass breakups
- 1 interception
This name might ring a few bells to Vikings fans since he was originally signed as an undrafted free-agent by Minnesota after the 2015 NFL Draft. Coleman made a push to make the Vikings’ roster, but he was ultimately waived as a part of their final roster cuts.
Since then, he has spent time with the New England Patriots and most recently with the Seattle Seahawks for the past two seasons. During his four-year career, he has started a total of 13 games and racked up a total of three interceptions. Not too shabby for an undrafted free-agent.
While Coleman might not ever be that starting caliber corner that teams are looking for, he has made a nice home for himself as an effective nickel-back and he adds great depth to any secondary. He is also still only 26-years-old, so he has plenty left in the tank.
I could only see the Vikings being interested in his services if they do in fact make a move on Trae Waynes this year. Reason being, Coleman will be a little more pricey than the Vikings will most likely be looking to spend at the cornerback position this offseason.
The former University of Tennessee defender will be looked at as a top 10 option at cornerback when free agency rolls around this year and he will command some attention from quite a few teams.
