4 teams who could possibly trade for Trae Waynes in 2019
By Adam Patrick
With them reportedly looking to send their young cornerback elsewhere, who are some possible trade partners for the Minnesota Vikings to consider?
Each offseason for the Minnesota Vikings and every other NFL team is always full of juicy rumors and this year is no different.
For the Vikings, it has recently been reported that the team has been trying to see what they can get in a trade for cornerback Trae Waynes. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Waynes has a cap hit over $9 million in 2019 and Minnesota needs to find ways to create more spending money this offseason.
It’s actually not a bad idea for the Vikings to put their young corner on the trade block this year. Not only would dealing Waynes create more cap space for Minnesota, but they have the cornerback depth to make up for his absence.
Trading him would still be a risky move for the Vikings to make though, one would be foolish to think that it wouldn’t be. There’s no guarantee that Mike Hughes will be recovered from his torn ACL in time for the start of the 2019 season and Xavier Rhodes is coming off a year that wasn’t exactly among his best since joining Minnesota.
So what could the Vikings get in return in a trade involving Waynes? Judging by his age, his career performance, and recent deals around the NFL involving corners, a third or fourth-round draft pick is likely the best Minnesota can get in exchange for their young defensive back.
If the Vikings are actually serious about trading Waynes, who are four teams that might be interested in acquiring his services this offseason?
