Houston Texans

Another team with multiple draft selections in the second round this year, the Texans not only have the cap space (over $80 million) to afford Trae Waynes in 2019, but they can also afford sign him to an extension if they would like.

As a whole, Houston’s defense performed well in 2018. However, the Texans are coming off a season in which they gave up the fifth-most passing yards per game in the NFL. So if there is any portion of Houston’s defense that needs improving, it’s their performance against the pass.

Houston’s cornerback with the most snaps in coverage last season, Kareem Jackson, is set to become a free-agent this year. So there is a need at the top of the Texans’ corner depth chart and Waynes could be the guy to fill it.

Houston can afford to re-sign Jackson, but they may want to opt for the younger cornerback that they could acquire from the Vikings instead. If the Texans offer a second or third-round pick in exchange for Waynes, that’s a deal that Minnesota should definitely consider.
