Reports claim Minnesota Vikings running back Roc Thomas has been arrested and charged with charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.
Things aren’t looking good for Minnesota Vikings running back Roc Thomas. After fighting his way to the team’s 53-man roster during the 2018 NFL season, it appears as though his future with the team is now in doubt.
The reason to be concerned about his spot on the team is due to a report from KSTP – ABC in Minneapolis stating the young, talented running back has been arrested and is facing criminal charges.
According to KSTP, a warrant was issued for a Mendota Heights apartment after receiving some complaints which resulted in a search warrant being issued. Upon their entry, officers found Thomas and another man with jars of marijuana and marijuana wax.
KSTP adds that Thomas told police he knew the apartment was receiving complaints about the smell of marijuana but he insisted it was for personal use. Now, he faces a charge of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.
The Minnesota Vikings have already commented to KSTP on the arrest, with a spokesman saying “We will respect both the legal process and the NFL’s disciplinary process.”
Roc Thomas played in five games for the Vikings in 2018, running the ball eight times for 30 yards and catching two passes for 21 yards. Considering his role with the team, there is a chance Minnesota will move forward without him in 2019.
There will be much more coming on this story in the future, but things don’t look good for Roc Thomas’ future with the Minnesota Vikings. Of course, the outcome will depend on how the charge is handled and how the NFL disciplines him, but for now, Minnesota should plan as if they are moving on without him.
