When the Vikings signed “The Big Goon” away from the New York Giants for the 2014 NFL season, it was hard to know if his first four NFL seasons’ worth of experience would carry over and transition well to the Vikings. Thankfully, the 6-foot-4, 329-pound defensive tackle continues to prove his worth every season.

So far, Linval Joseph has been a dominating force in the middle of the Minnesota defensive line. He is a huge part of why the team’s defense went from a running joke to one of the more feared units in the NFL.

Starting 17 games with the Vikings so far, the big man has racked up 307 tackles with 184 of them being solo and 12 sacks. In addition, he forced five fumbles and recovered two, returning one for a 64-yard touchdown.

It’s hard to measure a defensive tackle’s capability based on statistics. That being said, even if the numbers don’t show the true impact Joseph has on the Vikings defense, fans know it just by watching the game.
