Remembered by Vikings fans for the Minneapolis Miracle, quarterback Case Keenum has been traded from the Denver Broncos to the Washington Redskins.

There will always be a place in Minnesota Vikings history for Case Keenum. Although he only started 14 games for the team, he led the team to the NFC Championship and provided the franchise with one of the most exciting moments in history.

After his success with Minnesota, Keenum found himself changing his scenery for the 2018 NFL season. He became the full-time starter for the Denver Broncos where he couldn’t recreate the magic he showed with the Vikings.

Now, the Broncos are moving on from Keenum. The writing was on the wall for this move as soon as Denver traded for Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens since they weren’t going to pay Keenum’s cap hit of $21 million to be a backup and didn’t want to eat his $10 million guaranteed if they released him.

News of the impending trade was shared by Ian Rapoport on Twitter:

This looks like a great deal for both sides. Washington needed help at quarterback after the horrific leg injury to Alex Smith last year and Denver gets to move forward without having the contract of Case Keenum hurt their attempts to build a championship team. In addition, the “adjusted contract” will make the trade even more appealing to the Reskins and the exchange of picks seems to have a minimal impact on the draft.

Vikings fans will be interested to know about this trade since the Redskins are set to be a home opponent for the Vikings during the 2019 NFL season. If he is named Washington’s starter, he could be in front of the fans at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Of course, there are still a lot of Vikings fans who still believe in Case Keenum and would love to see him in a Minnesota uniform once again. But, at least for now. Keenum will get another chance to prove his 2018 season wasn’t a fluke and help Washington win games.
