Jawaan Taylor – OT (Florida)

There were a few sites out there that had Taylor going to the Vikings at pick 18. After the combine, those sites will need to update their mock drafts. There is no way this big man falls to No. 18, and probably won’t even fall out of the top 10.

Taylor was hampered by a hamstring injury which left him out of most of the physical tests other than the bench press. He did show great toughness and competitive drive by participating in the lineman positional drills. Taylor knocked those out of the park. Watching Taylor you could tell he was bothered by that injury, but the guy still looked extremely smooth. He showed quick feet, great change of direction skills, and good burst coming out of his stance. Taylor was one of the better-looking prospects on the field and he did this all while being injured.

On tape, Taylor absolutely locks down his man and stays on him until the play is whistled dead. He should be considered the top offensive tackle prospect in this draft class and will likely be a ten-year starter at left tackle for the team that takes him. Unfortunately for the Purple, that team will not be the Vikings, unless they are willing to move way up in the draft to land this elite prospect.
