Round 3: Terrill Hanks, LB – New Mexico State

Anthony Barr will be leaving in free agency. Since the Minnesota Vikings selected other positions of need, grabbing a linebacker to compete with Eric Wilson or Ben Gedeon for a starting gig should be a top priority.

Terrill Hanks is a bit taller and leaner than many of the other linebacker prospects in this draft and has proven to be able to act as both a pass rusher and an edge rusher if needed. His size and speed also make him the kind of player fans would expect Mike Zimmer to be interested in.

In four years, he played in 45 games, earning 391 tackles with 43.5 for a loss and 11 sacks. Even more impressive are his 14 pass defenses and eight interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

Standing six-foot-three and weighing 235 pounds, but Hanks seems like he would be a massive bargain in the third round despite his being CBS Sports ranking him at 94 and ninth among linebackers. Hopefully, he continues to be underappreciated and can land with Minnesota in this spot.
