Nate Davis – G (Charlotte)

Nate Davis is a big ol’ dude from small school Charlotte. This guy stood out at the 2019 Scouting Combine in positional drills not just for his good movement skills, but also for his jiggly upper chest.

Davis didn’t wow in his physical testing drills at the combine, landing in the lower-third in most of the skills. He’s not an exceptional athlete either, but he doesn’t need to be since he’s never going to be asked to run 40 yards in a straight line or broad jump during a game.

The 6-foot-3, 316 pound guard is an aggressive blocker on tape. He’s quick out of his stance and he attacks his man with aggression and tenacity.

Davis is a much better run blocker than pass blocker and that is why many scouts project him as a guard in the NFL. He likely won’t be a starter in his first year, but he should make the team that drafts him and provide good depth as he learns and adjusts to the speed of the NFL. A little time in the weight room would also do Davis some good.

The Vikings are more than likely going to use at least one early draft pick on an offensive lineman this year. Minnesota may look to supplement that choice with another offensive lineman in the later rounds and Davis could be one of their options.

He is a guy who teams will begin looking at some time in round five this year. There is a chance that Minnesota could have to move up to secure this tenacious blocker, as they currently don’t have a fifth-round choice. But Davis would be a great Day 3 value pick and he could eventually be a starter down the road for the Vikings.
