Draft Options
Ed Oliver (Houston)
If for some reason Oliver is still on the board when it comes time for the Vikings to make their first-round draft selection at pick No. 18 this year, good luck convincing Mike Zimmer not to snatch him up.
The former Houston defensive lineman was a two-time All-American during college and he is regarded as one of the most talented prospects available in the 2019 class. Oliver would probably be penciled in as Minnesota’s other starting defensive tackle for next season if the team was somehow able to land him in this year’s draft.
Christian Wilkins (Clemson)
Despite the fact that he probably won’t be drafted until the second round this year, Wilkins is still a very talented defensive tackle. He was an All-American last season and he played a vital part in Clemson winning the College Football Championship in two of the last three years.
Wilkins also has the versatility to play multiple positions on the defensive line and that is something that normally piques Minnesota’s interest.
Dre’Mont Jones (Ohio State)
A First-Team All-Big Ten selection last year, Jones really came into his own during his junior season at Ohio State. The 6-foot-3, 281 pound defensive tackle finished with 43 tackles (13 for a loss), 8.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception in 14 games last year.
Jones will likely have to bulk up a bit to become a force in the NFL, but he certainly has the potential to become something special.
