Size

These guys are very similar in size. We will use the measurements from the Combine as they are neutral and can be trusted. David Montgomery checked in at 5-foot-10 and 222 pounds. Damien Harris weighed in at 216 pounds and was also 5-foot-10. These guys are basically the same size and the battle of size can only be considered a draw.

Advantage: Push

Speed

Both of these guys aren’t considered burners by any means but show good speed on tape. Both have basically the same running style and actually look very similar on tape. To figure out who is faster, again we will go to the Combine. One can never trust the times that the school’s give out or times measured at Pro Days, so the Combine is as level and unbiased as we can get.

Montgomery ran his 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds. Damien Harris was a bit faster clocking in at 4.57 seconds. Like their size above, these times are very close, but Harris was .06 of a second faster and gets the all-important check next to his name in this category.

Advantage: Harris

Strength

Montgomery on tape definitely runs with power. Guys bounce off him on initial tackles and he can lower the shoulder and move the pile when needed. Harris is much the same. He doesn’t go down on initial contact and can plow ahead through the middle picking up the tough yards.

Again we’ll have to go back to the Combine and go to the bench press. While neither was overly impressive, their results were very close. David Montgomery put 225 pounds up 15 times and Damien Harris tossed up two and a quarter 16 times. Maybe this is a competition that could change from day-to-day but Harris won and again earns another victory.
