After spending one season with the Minnesota Vikings, safety George Iloka has signed with the Dallas Cowboys in free agency on a one year deal.

When the Minnesota Vikings signed George Iloka in free agency, many fans wondered how productive he would be when paired with former Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer now that he’s the head coach of the purple and gold.

To be polite, the experiment didn’t quite meet expectations. Despite an injury to Andrew Sendejo, Iloka only started three games for Minnesota and played 116 defensive snaps for the Vikings while participating in 238 special teams plays.

Even with Minnesota moving on from Andrew Sendejo and only placing a tender on Anthony Harris, Minnesota did not bring George Iloka back for the 2019 NFL season and he will be spending the upcoming season in Dallas.

Here is the news of Iloka moving on as shared by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo on Twitter:

Entering his eighth season in the NFL, Iloka has played in 99 games and started 79 of those. It is unclear what his role will be with the Cowboys, but they are getting an experienced defensive back with nine career interceptions and three forced fumbles.

With the departure of Iloka and Sendejo, the Vikings are putting a lot of their eggs in the basket of Anthony Harris to be the new starter next to Harrison Smith in Minnesota’s secondary. that leaves Jayron Kearse as the likely backup and a spot to be filled by a rookie or an inexpensive free agent.

We at The Viking Age would like to wish George Iloka nothing but the best in his future with the Dallas Cowboys and beyond. Also, we would like to thank him for his season spent with the Minnesota Vikings.
