2. Sammy White, wide receiver

Very few players can get off to the hot start that Sammy White did when he arrived in Minnesota after being picked out of Grambling State in the second round of the 1976 NFL Draft, and that is saying a lot.

White exploded onto the scene, being named the league’s A.P. Offensive Rookie of the Year as well as making the Pro Bowl in a season which saw him catch 51 passes for 906 yards and ten touchdowns in just 14 games.

Spending a decade with the Vikings and never playing for another team as a professional football player, White is fifth in all-time receiving yards for Minnesota with 6,400 and fourth in receiving touchdowns at 50.

Although White slowed down as his career went on, his contributions and his spark on offense led to him being named to the Pro Bowl twice and All-Pro Team three times over the course of his 128 games played and 118 starts. Other Vikings pass catchers in history get a lot of love, but Sammy White deserves a little more.
