Tytus Howard – OT (Alabama State)

Howard is one of the fastest rising prospects in the draft and could shoot up all the way into the second round. He is a big, big man standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 322 pounds, and has 34-inch arms. He is a former high school quarterback so he is an exceptional athlete, and that really jumps out when watching film on him.

Howard is lightning fast out of his stance and has impressive lateral quickness. He can get to the second level in a hurry and uses his long arms and big mitts to ward off defenders. There is a lot to like about this kid.

The one common knock on Howard is his overall strength. While he does play with good pad level and creates a nice wide base, he gets overpowered way too often. He can get pushed back into the backfield, disrupting the overall timing of the offense.

Whatever team ends up drafting Howard is going to need to get him into the weight room and build up his strength. If he puts in the time and adds a power element to his skill set, Howard could be a long time, above average starter in the league.

The Vikings are very thin at offensive tackle and they will draft at least one this year. Howard is a guy they could look at in round two, as there aren’t many prospects who have his size and overall athletic ability.
