Prediction:
Xavier Rhodes isn’t going anywhere this offseason. Not only is he still more talented than the majority of the No. 1 corners in the NFL today, but he’s a guy that Mike Zimmer has a great deal of attachment to.
Outside of his rookie season, Zimmer has been there pretty much every step of the way for Rhodes’ development in a Vikings uniform.
Minnesota’s head coach didn’t make his recent comments to bash the team’s top corner. Zimmer just knows what Rhodes is capable of and he doesn’t want him to waste the prime years of his career.
There is also just too much uncertainty about the future of the Vikings’ defensive backfield for the team to trade away their No. 1 cornerback this offseason.
One thing that is certain is how much talent Rhodes’ still possesses. He was a First-Team All-Pro as recently as 2017 and there is no reason to believe that he cannot get back to playing at that level next season.
Minnesota likely has to be blown away by an offer anyways for them to consider trading away a guy like Rhodes this year. And as of right now, it doesn’t appear that anyone has presented the Vikings with any sort of compensation that they are interested in.
