The Minnesota Vikings currently have just three safeties on the roster. They will definitely be bringing in another at some point during the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Minnesota Vikings currently have one of the best safeties in the league in Harrison Smith. This guy can do it all; cover, blitz, force turnovers, stop the run, and create game-changing plays.

Opposite him is breakout player Anthony Harris. Harris had a great season in 2018 and he looks to be the man to finally lock down that starting spot opposite the Hitman.

Behind those two, there is just lanky Jayron Kearse. Kearse has had his moments on defense, but he really shines on special teams.

So while they are top heavy, the Vikings’ overall depth at the position is razor thin. If an injury were to occur to one of the starters, Minnesota would be in big trouble.

Based on this, the Vikings will likely consider picking a safety in the 2019 NFL Draft. Who are five safety prospects from this year’s draft class that Minnesota could end up using a selection on?
