Sheldrick Redwine (Miami)

Measurements:

Height: 6-feet | Weight: 196 pounds

2018 Stats:

  • 64 total tackles (3.5 for a loss), 3 sacks
  • 3 interceptions, 2 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble

Redwine is a guy who will likely still be on the board on Day 3 of the 2019 draft due to his inconsistent play. But he’d be well worth a flier for the Vikings this year.

This guy plays balls out. He is always going 100 miles per hour, flying into ball carriers, and having no concern for the well being of his body. He possesses the speed to cover a lot of ground in a hurry and his overall range is very good.

Redwine can come up and support the run and he’s definitely a big-time hitter. He’s a converted cornerback who is good in coverage and really excels matching up man-to-man with big tight ends that come over the middle.

One area he does need to work on in coverage is going for the pass breakup. Too often, he will let the receiver catch the ball and then try to lay a big hit with the hopes of jarring the ball loose.

Redwine picked up a ton of experience during his four seasons at Miami. He created plenty of turnovers in that span, with five interceptions and four forced fumbles in his career.

Redwine is one of those guys who will be a fifth or a sixth-round pick this year, but he will make the team as a rookie and get plenty of playing time on special teams, where his reckless nature is definitely suited.

There’s a ton to like about this young player and all he really needs is some coaching up to become a more consistent force on defense and an eventual starter.
