Quarterback is not a pressing need for the Minnesota Vikings, but this year’s class could feature some long-term projects or an upgrade behind Kirk Cousins.

As the Minnesota Vikings enter the 2019 season, their quarterback situation is set for the foreseeable future. Kirk Cousins was given a big contract to be the Vikings’ starter last season. But even as his first season in purple didn’t go the way some had planned, he will be the starter for at least the next two seasons.

With stability at the top of the depth chart, it may not seem like the Vikings will be in the market for a quarterback, but it’s never a bad idea to keep your options open.

For a quick example, look at the 1999 St. Louis Rams, who turned to Kurt Warner when Trent Green went down in the preseason. Or even the Green Bay Packers, who had the services of Brett Favre as a starter, but groomed guys like Matt Hasselbeck and Mark Brunell as serviceable trade assets.

So with Minnesota having just Kyle Sloter (who has yet to play in a regular season game) behind Cousins, the Vikings would be wise to take a look at some quarterbacks in this year’s draft.

Here are five young passers that Minnesota should consider selecting with one of their picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.
