On Saturday, it was revealed that the Minnesota Vikings and free agent wide receiver Jordan Taylor reportedly agreed to a one-year contract.

At training camp this summer, the Minnesota Vikings will now have even more competition in their wide receiver room after a report came out on Saturday that the team has added another pass catcher to their roster.

According to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson, the Vikings and free agent wide receiver Jordan Taylor have agreed to a one-year deal. Taylor spent the past four seasons as a member of the Denver Broncos.

Undrafted out of Rice in 2015, the 6-foot-5, 210 pound receiver has only hauled in a total of 29 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns in 26 appearances during his NFL career. In addition to his receiving duties, Taylor also spent some of the 2017 season with the Broncos as the team’s punt returner.

The 27-year-old pass catcher did not appear in a single game for Denver last year after undergoing surgery on both of his hips during the early part of 2018. Due to some setbacks in his recovery process, Taylor was unable to practice with the Broncos for almost 10 months.

A free agent this year, he met with both Minnesota and the Seattle Seahawks earlier this week. Obviously, Taylor enjoyed his visit with the Vikings much more than the time he spent with the Seahawks.

Given his versatility as a returner, he should have a decent shot at making Minnesota’s 2019 roster. Especially when Taylor’s working relationship with current Vikings offensive advisor Gary Kubiak is factored in from when the two were both in Denver.

Perhaps he could emerge as a competitor to be Minnesota’s third receiver next season. But based on Taylor’s lack of production during his time in the league, his best bet at making the Vikings’ 2019 roster will likely be as a returner and a contributor on special teams.
