Rashod Hill signs tender to stay with the Minnesota Vikings for 2019

The Minnesota Vikings offered a right of refusal tender to offensive lineman Rashod Hill this offseason and the versatile blocker has signed the tender.
The Minnesota Vikings have been serious about acquiring offensive linemen this offseason, picking up Josh Kline and Dakota Dozier to the team while keeping Brett Jones to add competition for starting jobs.
Earlier this season, the team placed a right of refusal tender on Rashod Hill, who has played left tackle, right tackle, and guard while wearing purple and gold. On Apr. 15, that tender was signed by Hill.
According to Hill’s agent Brett Tessler on Twitter, the tender has been signed and Hill will return to Minnesota for the 2019 NFL season.
Hill is an intriguing player because he can do so many things. The Vikings will likely see him as a swing tackle who could fill in almost anywhere on the offensive line if needed but could also be a sneaky option to move to the interior if he can win the left guard spot.
Standing six-foot-six and weighing 309 pounds, Hill was the starting right tackle for 2018 until an injury put rookie Brian O’Neill into the lineup. Hill would never give that job back and should be considered the favorite to start there in 2019.
The biggest questions about the Vikings offensive line should be answered at the 2019 NFL Draft, where the team’s plan for the future will be revealed based on whether or not they will actually move Riley Reiff to left guard this year and how the other players will fall into line.
No matter what, there will be a role for Rashod Hill in the Minnesota Vikings offense. Whether he is just a backup or rotational player, they will be able to find value in keeping him on the roster.
