Greedy Williams (LSU)

  • Size: 6-foot-2, 185 pounds
  • 2018 Stats: 33 Tackles, 2 Interceptions, 9 Pass Breakups

Williams has exactly what Vikings coach Mike Zimmer loves in his cornerbacks. Size, speed, and length. Williams is a long lanky defender, who ran a blazing 4.37 forty-yard dash at the Combine. He’s very solid in coverage and blankets his man, and can go up and high point the ball when it’s in the air. When watching tape on this kid, he actually looks like Xavier Rhodes out there but not quite as big.

Williams isn’t a big hitter but can take the ball carrier down and is more than willing to help out in run support. Though he only had two interceptions last season, he did have six his freshman year so he can be a ball hawk and create those game-changing plays.

Williams could stand to gain a few pounds as he’s a little more slender than most teams would like. It wouldn’t hurt to get Greedy in the weight room and have him get stronger so he can lay those big hits, and hand fight big receivers on the line of scrimmage.

If the Vikings want Greedy Williams and it’s easy to believe that Mike Zimmer does, they’d have to take him at pick 18. In doing so, the team would be ignoring their biggest need which is, of course, the offensive line. Don’t rule it out though, because they did that very same thing just one short year ago.
